Some cheery family photos from William and Kate to distract yourself with

It was Mother’s Day in the UK on Sunday and in the midst of these wobbly times Duchess Kate and Prince William shared some particularly candid family photos in the name of celebrating mums.

Happy (UK) Mother’s Day!

While in Australia we wait till the second Sunday of May that’s not the case for the United Kingdom, Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, The Isle of Man and Nigeria.

The fourth Sunday in Lent (which falls around 6 weeks before Easter) is Mother’s Day in those parts. And did you know it’s also known as ‘Mothering Sunday’? It’s true!

Kate and William just did what many others are doing during the pandemic. They got personal, less polished and more vulnerable.

Sharing photos of themselves giving Prince George and Princess Charlotte piggyback rides, along with a photo of the late Diana with a young Will and Harry and a throwback photo of Kate’s mum Carole holding her baby girl, the Cambridges sent their best wishes to all.

“To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart – we are thinking of you all at this difficult time. Happy Mother’s Day.”

“Joy in this hard time”

Followers of the Kensington Palace Instagram account found this update incredibly cheering.

“This brings me so much joy in this hard time! Happy Mother’s Day!” one posted.

“This really made me smile but also tugged at the heartstrings. Love to all the moms out there,” another follower commented.

“Thank you for sharing these lovely photos! The Duchess looks so much like her beautiful mum,” someone else wrote.

The couple added these images to their Instagram Stories too, as well as some mental health focused messages for anyone who might be struggling through this stressful time.

They’re definitely showing stoic and compassionate leadership skills and it’s not going unnoticed by royal fans.
