Recipe Using Leftover Baby Food

13. Blueberry and Avocado PureeFinally, no more feeling wrong about all those leftover jars of baby food you have.

I’ve been asked in my Sweet Potato Baby Led Weaning Cookies recipe about what to do with baby food, and finally, I have a recipe solution for that.

Now you can make these Baby Cookies using jarred baby food! And even better, they taste good, so good the entire family can eat them!

These homemade cookies are made with simple, natural ingredients that you can feel good about giving your growing little one.

You’ll need a 4-ounce jar of carrot baby food, 1/2 a banana, quick oats, all-purpose flour, cinnamon, and brown sugar (this is optional).

How to Make Baby Cookies

Grab your jar of baby food. If you have any leftover baby food jars, you can easily double or triple this recipe and freeze the cookies.

The banana must be mashed and pretty smooth. Mix the banana with baby food with a spoon or masher to get it as smooth as possible with minimal lumps.

Add quick oats, flour, cinnamon, and brown sugar into the bowl and continue stirring. I stir everything with a spoon. If you want to make baby cookies without sugar, you can skip the brown sugar.

Using a spoon or your hands, shape into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on a cookie sheet or silicone baking mats.

The dough will feel wet and stick to your hands; that’s ok and how it’s supposed to be. Gently press down with a fork to flatten them slightly. Bake for 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes, during this time why will become more firm.

These will keep for a couple of days in an airtight container, or you can freeze them to last for a few months.

When can a baby have these cookies?

Every baby differs, so there’s no one answer for this. These are more finger food cookies than first solids, so I would hold off until they have completely adapted to soft solids.

I didn’t start letting my little one try these until she was around 8,9,10 months old, and I knew she could handle them.

The great thing about these cookies is they can stick around for years. Not only will your 10-month-old like them, but here’s my almost 3-year-old reaching for one after she came home from the park! Even I love them with my afternoon tea.
